ADDIS ABABA - Mussa Faki Mahamat, the Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC), highlighted the critical need for increased investment in Africa's education sector. He made this statement at the 47th Ordinary Session of the African Union's Permanent Representatives Committee (PRC) in Addis Ababa.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, the focus is on the theme "Educate an African fit for the 21st Century: Building resilient education systems for increased access to inclusive, lifelong, quality, and relevant learning in Africa." Mussa Faki Mahamat emphasized that investing in education is essential for producing a generation that is productive and capable of contributing to the continent's growth.

The AUC Chair also addressed the ongoing efforts to resolve conflicts and establish peace in Africa, underscoring the importance of collaboration and unity among member states to achieve these objectives successfully. He pointed out that such cooperation is vital for the continent's overall development and stability.

The PRC's session plays a significant role as it provides a platform for member states to discuss issues related to Agenda 2063, continental peace, and regional integration, and to recommend possible resolutions. The meeting aims to review various draft reports and prepare the agenda for the 44th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council, scheduled for 14-15 February 2024, in Addis Ababa.

The session includes participation from Ambassadors of African Union Member States and officials from the AU, reflecting a wide range of perspectives and expertise on the discussed topics.
