Dennilton Police Pursue Two Suspects After Councilor Shot in Violent Home Invasion

DENNILTON, SEKHUKHUNE DISTRICT — Police have launched a manhunt for two male suspects following the attempted murder of a local ward councilor in Dennilton. The incident occurred on Wednesday evening when the councilor encountered a suspicious situation near his home, which quickly escalated into violence.

According to South African Police Service, The episode began when the councilor and a friend, while driving through Kgaphamadi village, noticed a grey sedan parked oddly on the road. After stopping at his home and then visiting a nearby shop, the councilor returned to find two armed strangers inside his house. In a desperate defense, he grabbed one assailant, using him as a shield to escape gunfire from the other. Despite managing to flee, the councilor sustained a gunshot wound to the thigh, and another house occupant was shot in the pelvis. Both victims are currently receiving medical care. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact Sergeant Benjamin Ntuli or use the MySAPSApp to assist in capturing the suspects as the investigation progresses.
