These exhibitions were conducted to benefit communities in Ganyesa, Mokasa II village and Sweitzer-Reneke . They attracted over 800 youth and work-seekers.
The Career Exhibitions are part of the Department of Employment and Labour’s ongoing efforts to contribute towards reducing unemployment by creating favourable platforms that allow youth and work-seekers an opportunity to expand their networks, gain valuable insight about different career opportunities, including learnerships, Internships, apprenticeships, bursaries and entrepreneurship.
According to the Director PES in the North West, Ms Slindile Nkiwane, the youth are the asset that should be protected and nurtured. This will assist in developing better and well informed future adults who should be able to turn the economy of the country around.
“It is encouraging to see that our youth and work-seekers are determined to stand up and seek information that has a potential to improve their lives. Having them attending these kind of initiatives is proof enough that our youth are ready to take up opportunities that can improve their lives,” said Nkiwane.
Different Institutions of higher learning and training, Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Colleges, Funding Institutions, Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs) were also in attendance to impart information and knowledge that would assist the youth to broaden their horizons and consider other available opportunities.
The next exhibition will be held in Klerksdorp on 29 June 2023 where the Department will continue to forge partnerships with different stakeholders in the fight to develop the youth of the province and create awareness on the opportunities that will improve their prospect of employment.
