BEIJING, China - The Ethio-China Tourism Promotion Forum was held at the Ethiopian Embassy in Beijing, aiming to showcase Ethiopia as a prime tourist destination for Chinese travelers. The event saw significant participation from tourism associations, tour operators, and government representatives.
Ethiopian Ambassador to China, Tefera Derbew, opened the forum with a speech highlighting Ethiopia's diverse culture, stunning landscapes, rich wildlife, and unique historical heritage. He encouraged Chinese travel agencies to promote Ethiopia more vigorously to their clients.
According to Ethiopian News Agency (ENA), the forum attracted over 274 participants from 214 tourism associations and tour operators. The event also featured representatives from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the China People’s Republic and the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism.
High-level Ethiopian officials, including the Minister of Culture and Sports, the Minister of Tourism, the Director General for Middle East, Asia, and Oceania Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ethiopian Airlines Beijing Branch Manager, and the President of the Ethiopian Tour Association, delivered speeches and presentations. They focused on the various tourism opportunities available in Ethiopia.
Participants emphasized the importance of Chinese tourists gaining a deeper understanding of Ethiopian culture and history to fully appreciate the country's appeal as a travel destination. The forum represents a significant step in strengthening tourism ties between Ethiopia and China, potentially increasing the influx of Chinese tourists to Ethiopia.
