Addis Ababa, Ethiopia - In a significant diplomatic engagement, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed of Ethiopia and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz held discussions to enhance the relationship between their countries, focusing on new spheres of cooperation. The talks took place ahead of the “G20 Compact with Africa (CwA) Summit.”
According to Ethiopian News Agency, Eyob Tekalign, the meeting between the two leaders covered a range of topics, including bilateral cooperation, domestic and regional issues. Ethiopia and Germany have long enjoyed a strong partnership, particularly in areas of climate change, energy, education, and regional peace and security.
Eyob emphasized the multifaceted nature of the relationship between Ethiopia and Germany, noting that it has been robust for several years. He highlighted Germany's support in strengthening Ethiopia's technical and vocational training sector and contributing to the country's food security efforts.
The discussions between Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and Chancellor Olaf Scholz were fruitful, focusing on diversifying cooperation and enhancing existing relations. They talked about supporting Ethiopia's Home-Grown Economic Reforms, investing in green development, and continuing development cooperation. The leaders also agreed to strengthen their partnership in the agriculture sector and other multifaceted areas.
