Ethiopia Leads Discussion on WHO Health Negotiations among African Representatives in Geneva

Geneva - The African Ambassadors Group in Geneva, with Ethiopia as the coordinator for health matters, recently engaged in discussions about the upcoming WHO negotiations. These talks, focusing on the Pandemic Accord and amendments to the International Health Regulations, are crucial for the African continent.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs revealed that the discussions were part of a workshop organized by Ethiopia, in collaboration with the Africa CDC, for African ambassadors. The group emphasized the urgency of achieving substantial outcomes by the May 2024 deadline, particularly in terms of operationalizing equity in health matters. The Permanent Mission of Ethiopia in Geneva, as the coordinator, affirmed its commitment to ensuring a unified African stance in these crucial health negotiations.
