ADDIS ABABA — The Ethiopian News Agency (ENA) has initiated a significant step towards becoming a dominant news source in Africa with the launch of a new, advanced media complex. The inauguration ceremony, attended by high-ranking government officials and special invitees, marks a milestone in ENA's ambitious journey to reshape the media landscape within the continent.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, the legislative body has vowed unwavering support for ENA's quest to evolve into a benchmark for reliability and influence in African journalism. This commitment follows the agency's concerted efforts since its reorganization in 2019, which aimed at enhancing institutional frameworks and broadening the scope of its services. Under the stewardship of the House, ENA has focused on fostering national consensus and polishing the country's image through media.
The newly unveiled media complex is equipped with the latest technology, underscoring ENA's dedication to delivering superior media content. They emphasized the importance of language diversity in ENA's operations to ensure its competitiveness and global reach.
With 38 branch offices and content dissemination in eight languages — including Amharic, Afan Oromo, Tigrigna, Somali, Afar, English, Arabic, and French — ENA stands as a venerable institution in Ethiopia's media sector. The agency's vision to be a trusted and influential source for promoting African interests through expanded reach is now closer to realization, bolstered by the capabilities of the new media complex.
