Addis Ababa — The Ethiopian News Agency (ENA) has inaugurated a new state-of-the-art media complex in a significant move to boost Ethiopia's global image and foster national consensus, announced Seife Derbe, the CEO of ENA. The inauguration ceremony highlighted the agency's advancement and commitment to enhancing its role on the international stage.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, the newly opened complex represents a pivotal step in realizing ENA's motto 'ENA in New Heights.' The CEO emphasized that the agency is dedicated to reinforcing efforts in national consensus and image building. He remarked that with this development, ENA is now equipped to compete with leading international news agencies. The collaboration with various global media outlets is a part of this new strategic direction.
For over eight decades, ENA has played a crucial role in presenting an accurate portrayal of Ethiopia to the world. The CEO stressed the importance of effective communication regarding Ethiopia's reform initiatives to the international audience. He also revealed that ENA has received an invitation to join the BRICS' media forum, marking a significant recognition of its international relevance.
The modern complex, which is a part of wider media reforms, includes three advanced TV studios and four radio studios. This enhancement will enable ENA to efficiently carry out its responsibilities. Derbe announced plans for the agency to broadcast content in three international languages — English, Arabic, and French — and preparations are underway to establish regional offices, further extending ENA's reach and influence.
