Fada N’Gourma Rallies Behind Hugues Fabrice Zango in Olympic Triple Jump Final

FADA N'GOURMA — The community of Fada N'Gourma, along with regional and provincial authorities, gathered around a giant screen on Friday, August 9, 2024, to cheer on their national hero, Hugues Fabrice Zango, during the triple jump finals at the 2024 Olympic Games.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Secretary-General of the region, the Olympic event drew substantial local support as residents of all ages joined together to watch and support Zango. The atmosphere was charged with excitement as the crowd chanted Zango’s name during his attempts. Although Zango's best effort of 17.50 meters was not enough to secure a podium finish, the community remained proud of his performance and continued support.

Ouattara remarked on the high level of competition at the Games and commended Zango's efforts. He expressed hope that all athletes from the region would intensify their efforts in future competitions to win medals. Additionally, Sékou Sidibé from UNICEF Fada N'Gourma highlighted Zango's role as an ambassador for their initiatives focused on children and water, underscoring the athlete's contribution to the community beyond his sporting achievements.
