Addis Ababa - International tourists who attended the 'Ketera', the eve of the Ethiopian Epiphany (Timket), in Addis Ababa, have expressed their admiration for the rich cultural heritage of Ethiopia. The event, which showcases a diverse array of cultural and religious practices, attracted visitors from various countries, eager to experience the vibrancy of Ethiopian culture firsthand. The celebration, observed by Ethiopian Christians nationwide, is especially colorful in the capital, featuring a procession of "Tabots" – miniature representations of the Ark of the Covenant – along with other spiritual and cultural activities.
According to the Ethiopian News Agency (ENA), Andrew Ellis from the USA, one of the tourists present at the event, praised Ethiopia for its unique history and culture. He highlighted the importance of the Timket celebration in showcasing Ethiopian cultural and religious traditions. Ellis noted the distinctiveness of each region in Ethiopia, with their own languages and customs, differentiating them significantly from the United States. He expressed his fortune in being able to witness such rich culture and encouraged other foreigners to visit Addis Ababa to experience events like Timket. Ellis also commended the hospitality of the Ethiopian people.
Sylvkin Tiako from Cameroon, attending the Timket festival for the first time, described the event as unique and colorful, emphasizing the unity and message delivered by the churches.
