Minister Nzimande Pledges Collaboration for Clean Governance at Fort Hare University

Fort Hare - Higher Education and Training Minister, Professor Blade Nzimande, has committed to collaborating with the University of Fort Hare Council and other key stakeholders to uphold clean governance. This pledge followed a special meeting last Friday aimed at assessing governance issues and addressing the recent arrests of senior university staff, including those in the Vice Chancellor's office.

According to South African Government News Agency, the meeting highlighted Nzimande's ongoing efforts to stabilize and ensure transparency at the university.

Despite rumors of the meeting's breakdown, the department clarified that after a brief pause, discussions resumed, focusing on recent troubling developments at the university. The Council decided to delay responding to Nzimande's concerns, which will be formally presented in writing. The department noted that a subsequent physical meeting will be scheduled to continue these discussions, demonstrating Nzimande's satisfaction with the meeting's progress and his dedication to the university's legacy and governance.
