SAPS Issues Warning Against Bogus Police Job Scams in East London and King Williams Town

EAST LONDON - The South African Police Service Management is alerting the public to a scam involving bogus job offers for police trainee positions, particularly targeting job seekers in East London and King Williams Town.

According to South African Police Service, individuals have received phone calls from a scammer posing as a police officer, who demanded R3000 to R5000 in exchange for police training positions. Victims have reportedly transferred money in hopes of securing these positions, some even traveling from KwaZulu Natal to King Williams Town based on promises of training commencement at the SAPS Bhisho Academy. SAPS has clarified that their recruitment process involves no payment and is advertised only through official channels. The public is urged to be cautious, verify employment offers through recognized SAPS platforms, and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
