South Africa Celebrates Robust Democracy with 2024 National and Provincial Election Results

MIDRAND — In a ceremony held on Sunday, President Cyril Ramaphosa declared the 2024 National and Provincial Elections a milestone for democracy and constitutional order in South Africa. Speaking from the Independent Electoral Commission's (IEC) Result Operations Centre, the President lauded the active participation of South Africans in the electoral process.

According to South African Government News Agency, the act of voting by the citizens underlines the strength and endurance of the nation's democratic framework. He emphasized that the voters have demonstrated the significance of their votes and affirmed their trust in the democratic system. The President stressed the expectation of the electorate for their leaders to collaborate and address national issues constructively.

Additionally, President Ramaphosa commended the IEC for its professionalism and integrity, as well as the law enforcement bodies and the Department of Home Affairs for their roles in maintaining order and enabling voter participation. He also acknowledged the contributions of independent candidates, political parties, and the efforts of local and international observers, media personnel, and the South African public for reinforcing the democratic values of the nation.
