South African Minister Proposes National Register of Polluters to Combat Environmental Damage

VANDERBIJLPARK - Minister of Water and Sanitation, Senzo Mchunu, announced plans for a National Register of Polluters at a workshop on Friday, aimed at holding key figures accountable for environmental pollution.

According to South African Government News Agency, the register would include names of local authorities and business leaders responsible for ecological neglect, particularly in the Vaal River system which is currently suffering from invasive alien plants and wastewater issues. The announcement came during discussions with stakeholders at the Emerald Resort and Casino, where strategies were discussed to address the ongoing environmental challenges affecting South Africa’s crucial water sources.
