KRUGERSDORP - Deputy Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition, Nomalungelo Gina, inaugurated Tiger Brands' new R300 million peanut butter manufacturing facility in Chamdor, Gauteng, highlighting it as a vote of confidence in the South African economy. During the event, Gina emphasized the importance of supporting Small Micro and Medium Enterprises (SMMEs) through the Enterprise Supplier Development (ESD) program to foster economic growth and re-industrialisation.
According to South African Government News Agency, Industry and Competition, the new facility spans over 8000 square meters and will employ 62 full-time staff, with significant local sourcing commitments for peanuts to support domestic agriculture. Gina also called on local businesses to leverage the African Continental Free Trade Agreement to enhance economic ties across the continent.
